Grease Crochet-A-Long: WEEK #11

Banner time! Yes folks, we’re getting to that point in our GREASE crochet-a-long where we’re starting to wind down with the banner and the last few panels–just 3 more weeks to go! We’re almost to the finish line! The inspiration for the banner comes from the show’s title. You really could not go wrong with this image. Be warned, this is likely the most difficult panel in this crochet-a-long, and if you’re just joining us, I suggest you start with another panel before jumping into this one as the color changes may have you running for the hills if this is your first panel. Just take it one row at a time and remember that this isn’t a race! :)

Banner

By this point, you should be weaving in all your loose ends (don’t wait until the last minute to do this…you’ll thank me later for bugging you about it now) and finishing off each panel with an even SC (single crochet) border. You don’t NEED to do the single crochet border, but I HIGHLY suggest is as it makes joining your panels so much easier. Using the same color yarn as the background. My mini c2c = 2 sc in each chain 2 space + 2 sc evenly spaced out in the 3HDC + (sc + chain 2 + sc) in each corner. You can check out my blog post on this here.

Happy Fall!!!

Fall is my time of the year. I love seeing all the leaves changing colors. It truly is a magical sight to see. I grew up in Hawaii where there is no fall. When I moved away from the islands at 25 years old, I immediately fell in love with the drop in temperature and the beautiful colors of fall. One of my favorite things to do is have a glass of hot apple cider and sit by the firepit in our backyard with a campfire going–all while wearing a sweater. Now, because of where I live, our fall is short (sometimes you can wear shorts on Thanksgiving), but that just means I savor every moment.

To celebrate the first day of fall, I have designed a few fall themed graphing panels that you can grab for free, right here on my blog.

Like I said earlier, I love hot apple cider. Don’t throw rocks at me, but I don’t understand the love for pumpkin spice lattes. My husband loves them, but I’d rather have some hot apple cider. So, the panel I chose to work up is my Hot Apple Cider. I plan on turning this into a fall throw pillow for my living room–it’s the perfect size!

For those of you who are PSL fans, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered:

Just because I’m not a PSL fan, doesn’t mean I don’t like pumpkin! I love pumpkin pie!

These graphs are the perfect size for making a seasonal throw pillow or two. Or, if you’re feeling ambitious, you could always arrange them in a grid and make a small lap blanket!

GREASE Crochet-A-Long: WEEK #10

We’ve got the T-Birds and we’ve got the Scorpions on our graphgan. Checkered race flags surround a record and two music notes to symbolize their big race down at Thunder Road.

This week’s panel started out like every other panel–a design was developed and planned, then executed. But then I hit a little bump in the road. More like a fork in the road. I originally planned to have WEEK #10’s panel made twice, but when I realized that the pink milkshake from Frosty Palace would work perfectly on this panel size, I knew I had to draw up a graph for it. So, this week’s regularly scheduled weekly panel release also includes BONUS #2. Stay tuned for a little extra release later on this week ;) You will need to make a total of 2 of these panels in whatever combination you like–2 checkered flags, 2 milkshakes, or 1 of each.

This scene is where the inspiration behind the pink milkshake comes from. Poor Frenchy…

Halloween 3 Witches Graph: Hocus Pocus

“I put a spell on you, because you’re mine…”

Last weekend, the weather outside my home started to feel a bit like fall was peeking it’s head out from between the leaves of the trees in my backyard. The mornings were chilly (by my standards, 55 degrees is chilly) and the days were warm. The leaves out back have begun to change colors and fall to the ground. Besides the pumpkin spice lattes, hot apple cider, autumn leaves, and Halloween decor in the stores, Halloween movies that are starting to creep into television programming are getting me in the mood for—HALLOWEEN! And what better way to get you in the mood for Halloween than to crochet or cross stitch up your favorite witches–the Sanderson sisters from ‘Hocus Pocus!’

My Hocus Pocus “Halloween 3 Witches” graph is now available for purchase in my Etsy store!! Follow me on Instagram for an awesome Hocus Pocus themed multi-maker giveaway coming up! You will seriously want to see what’s in this giveaway! Head on over to my Etsy shop to grab your own copy of my Hocus Pocus “Halloween 3 Witches” graph!

GREASE Crochet-A-Long: WEEK #9

“Your story’s sad to tell…” Poor Frenchy ended up being a beauty school dropout. Now, I have a rather biased opinion when it comes to Frenchy having played the role of Frenchy in a musical on ice when I was younger, but she is my favorite character. With her colorful outfits, fun pink hair, well-timed comedic relief, and great big smile, she’s definitely my favorite character.

After accidentally dyeing her hair bright pink in tinting class one day, Frenchy wishes she had a guardian angel to tell her what to do. Frankie Avalon plays the role of her beauty school guardian angel:

GREASE Crochet-A-Long: BONUS #1

Who doesn’t love a villain?…er, villainess in this case. In Grease we obviously have the Scorpions playing the role of the villain, but don’t forget Cha Cha DiGregorio, the villainess who seems to put Sandy on her toes with good reason. You can’t forget the time she took over Sandy and Danny’s winning dance at the National Dance-Off, finishing the number with Danny, and claiming the title. I knew I had to include Cha Cha on this graphgan somewhere, so I’ve included her panel as the very first bonus panel.

Bonus #1: Cha Cha DiGregorio

GREASE Crochet-A-Long: WEEK #8

“Tell me about it…stud.” By far, one of my favorite parts of the entire Grease movie, is at the end of movie when the ‘new Sandy’ and the ‘new Danny’ meet up at the Rydell carnival. The song, “You’re the One that I Want,” is a favorite of mine with Sandy in her tight black leggings, red high heels, and cherry red lipstick, and Danny with his sleeveless black shirt (and his tossed aside letterman sweater). Dancing thru the ride at the carnival where they end up singing and shaking in the ‘Shake Shack.’

So, with the Shake Shack lettering and Sandy’s red heel, I give you WEEK #8:
