MARY POPPINS MYSTERY CAL : WEEK #8

This week is our last week of panels!! We’ve done a lot in just 8 weeks! Our tribute for our final panel is actually so supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ly big that it took TWO panels to fit it all in! You guessed it–this week we’re SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS!

This week has two panels–two banners that run the length of the blanket on both sides:

ChaosAndChopSuey MPCAL - Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious PART 1ChaosAndChopSuey MPCAL - Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious PART 2

You also have the opportunity this week to pick your own colors! Pick two (or more) colors that you used in this CAL that stand out to you, and have a go at it! We have another planned applique coming this week just in time for next week when we join all these panels together and create a border!

MARY POPPINS MYSTERY CAL : WEEK #7

No Mary Poppins graphgan would be complete without a tape measure! This week, is our banner week and instead of using the film’s title as the banner, I went a different way–the tape measure.

Here’s a close-up of that shot…

My version…

ChaosAndChopSuey MPCAL - Practically Perfect overall

You may notice that this week, an image of the graph is being shown. That’s because with the holiday week last week, we traveled and I didn’t have any crochet time! I’m working on it and will get you a finished photo as soon as that happens. Rather than finishing the entire graphgan beforehand, I work just a week ahead of everyone because I love the CAL community and crocheting together.

MARY POPPINS MYSTERY CAL : WEEK #6

As we head into WEEK #6 of the Chaos And Chop Suey Mary Poppins Mystery Crochet-a-long, we have some catching up to do! During WEEK #4, we actually had TWO panels that were released, but I only made one of them public. The second panel for WEEK #4 was a short, but wide panel where there were two options: 17 Cherry Tree Lane or a nod towards the song Chim Chim Cheree.

This week, WEEK #6, has several options as well…3 to be exact! You can choose from either a panel inspired by the song ‘Step in Time,’ Mary Poppins’ rum punch medicine and medicine bottle that magically changes flavors, or a panel with Mary Poppins’ carpet bag.

I chose to make the carpet bag inspired panel. This panel includes a few of the things she pulled out from her magic carpet bag–a mirror, a plant, and a floor lamp:

MARY POPPINS MYSTERY CAL : WEEK #5

Making our way back to the sidewalk chalk drawing, we visit the scene where Mary Poppins, Bert, and the children take a ride on a merry-go-round where the horses magically jump off the merry-go-round and the group finds themselves riding thru the countryside on merry-go-round horses. But that countryside ride is not without the excitement of riding thru a fox hunt, ending up on a race course, riding in a race, which Mary Poppins wins atop her purple and lavender carousel horse named “Jingles.” This of course leads up to arguably the most recognizable song in the movie, “Mary Poppins”–Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

This week I give you, “Jingles,” Mary Poppins’ purple and lavender carousel horse…

Harry Potter Sweater Blanket Graph

If Harry Potter, sweater, and blanket don’t belong together in a sentence, then I don’t know what does. My latest graphgan (and cross stitch) pattern combines my love for Harry Potter and my affinity for sweaters (though I don’t own any because I can never decide on which one I want). So I combined them together to make a Harry Potter inspired sweater-style blanket (cause you all know I L-O-V-E blankets!)

My Harry Potter Sweater Blanket graph is now available for purchase in my Ravelry store!! Head on over to my Ravelry store to grab your own copy of my Harry Potter Sweater Blanket graph!

Harry Potter Sweater Graph

I am now open for CUSTOM GRAPH orders as well. The current turnaround time starts at one week depending on the level of detail required. Prices start at $8 for a custom graph that includes several sizes (for printing purposes) of colored graphs. I can also include yarn color suggestions if that is desired. To create a custom graph order of your own, message me on Etsy and we can discuss everything there!

Grease Crochet-a-Long: WEEK #14

Welcome to our last week of graphs for our GREASE crochet-a-long! While this is our last week of officially scheduled graphs, that doesn’t mean that the fun stops here! Stay tuned for next week’s joining and bordering, plus, there may be a few more bonus appliques and bonus graphs coming your way!

Blanche's Xylophone.jpg

For our last week, I pulled inspiration from the vote that happened early on in our Grease crochet-a-long Facebook group. One of the ideas with the most votes was for Blanche and her xylophone! With her kooky sense of humor, Blanche breaks the ice and brings a bit of comic relief with her fun loving self. I had to find a combination of her pink collared dress with her xylophone to add to my own blanket.

This is our last week of graphs! Next week we will be joining our panels together and adding a border. Weave in all your loose ends and finish off each panel with an even SC (single crochet) border. You don’t NEED to do the single crochet border, but I HIGHLY suggest is as it makes joining your panels so much easier. Using the same color yarn as the background. My mini c2c = 2 sc in each chain 2 space + 2 sc evenly spaced out in the 3HDC + (sc + chain 2 + sc) in each corner. You can check out my blog post on this here.

GREASE crochet-a-long: WEEK #13

Grease was defined by the music. Well, afterall it is, a musical. The jukebox was a big part of social life in the 1950’s, so it’s only fitting that Grease features a jukebox in the Frosty Palace. As a tribute to all the music in Grease, I created this week’s panel.

Week #13: Frosty Palace Jukebox…

Just a friendly reminder to weave in all your loose ends (don’t wait until the last minute to do this…you’ll thank me later for bugging you about it now) and finishing off each panel with an even SC (single crochet) border. You don’t NEED to do the single crochet border, but I HIGHLY suggest is as it makes joining your panels so much easier. Using the same color yarn as the background. Grease Crochet-A-Long: WEEK #12

It’s getting to be that time again–the end of a crochet-a-long. We have just 2 more weeks left of our GREASE crochet-a-long! And, just like previous CALs, the end means more detailed (aka lots of color changes) weekly and bonus panels. So if you’re just joining us, go ahead and start at the beginning (or at least a few weeks back) because I’m going to start pulling out all the stops on graph details.

This week’s panel inspiration comes from the drive-in scene. The snack bar commercial in the background during Danny’s solo always stands out when I watch that scene, so I coupled that with a little bit of Danny and Sandy in his red car to create this panel. Here are the two clips I pulled inspiration from:

Week #12: Stranded at the Drive-In…

By this point, you should be weaving in all your loose ends (don’t wait until the last minute to do this…you’ll thank me later for bugging you about it now) and finishing off each panel with an even SC (single crochet) border. Halloween 3 Witches Graph: Hocus Pocus

“I put a spell on you, because you’re mine…”

Last weekend, the weather outside my home started to feel a bit like fall was peeking it’s head out from between the leaves of the trees in my backyard. The mornings were chilly (by my standards, 55 degrees is chilly) and the days were warm. The leaves out back have begun to change colors and fall to the ground. Besides the pumpkin spice lattes, hot apple cider, autumn leaves, and Halloween decor in the stores, Halloween movies that are starting to creep into television programming are getting me in the mood for—HALLOWEEN! And what better way to get you in the mood for Halloween than to crochet or cross stitch up your favorite witches–the Sanderson sisters from ‘Hocus Pocus!’

My Hocus Pocus “Halloween 3 Witches” graph is now available for purchase in my Etsy store!! Follow me on Instagram for an awesome Hocus Pocus themed multi-maker giveaway coming up! You will seriously want to see what’s in this giveaway! Head on over to my Etsy shop to grab your own copy of my Hocus Pocus “Halloween 3 Witches” graph!
